HISTORY repeats itself...

San Jose is the largest barangay in AntipolCanumay, Sitio San Ysiro is part of it. Purok Canumay is situated  in the mountain ranges of the City. It has a totalland area of 2.798 hectares and the population is mostly Visayans and Dumagat of Rizal province. The 'Remontados" (a term for an individual with "Dumagat' ancestry) comprises fifty percent (50%) of the population. people are primarily engaged in farming as their source of livinng. Purok Canumay is more than 20 kilometers away from the city proper. 

 It can be reached through land vehicle for about two hours due to rough road. During rainiy season, the road is muddy and slippery causing jeepney drivers to cut trips up to certain portion which is passable. With this sitaution, commuters have to walk from 1 to 2 hours to reach the place. the high cost of transportation from Sitio Canumay to city proper impedesthe right of graduate of the elementary in pursuing their secondary education that resulted to a very slow progress of the place and an early marriage for that students.

In October 200, Mrs. Rebecca Gallego and Mr. Lucio San Jose, the GPTCA President and Sitio Coordinator repectively, wrote a letter tpo Dr. Edith A. Doblada, SDS of the Division of Rizal, requesting to open an extension high school in their place. Fortunately it was approved and the first documents needed for the establishment of Antipolo National High School - Canumay Extension.

            ANHS- Canumay Extension was temporarily housed in one classroon with a starting population of 23 freshmen students and 1 teacher Mr. Rizalvy S. Pineda on June, 2003. The school is under the supervion of Dr. Corazon S. Laserna, principal of ANHS. A year after its establishment, a three classroom was constructed in a 5.3 hectares school site by the City Goverment of Antipolo, under the adminstation of Hon.Mayor Angelito C. Gatlabayan. It was managed by Mr. Micheal T. Tayona as Teacher - In - Charge assigned. 

             ANHS- Canumay is the smallest complete high school in the Division of Antipolo City. In December 2009 up to November 18, 2011, Dr. Jonathan Domingo was then assigned as ther TIC. The school with its 5.3 hectares and a contract of usufruct agreement. Today, it has a new additional 2 classrooms under DPWH established February, 2013

             At present, ANHS-Canumay Extension is catering students comprising from the gradutes of Canumay Elementary School, Casunugan Elementary and Libis Elementary School, and it is the only Secondary School located on this place and served as the cathc basin of the said Elementary Schools. Despite of the socio-economic status of the students enrolled here and the distance they travelled everyday, they are trying their best to finish their secondary level even times get rough. Today, the school is being managed by the neew Head Teacher Mr. Virgilio O. Paat, Jr. with 13 committed, dedicated and passsionate teachers.
